2025's July spotlight is Dr. Sridevi Pitta! Their question for the community is:
As we stand at the intersection of revolutionary technological advances-from AI-guided procedures to expanded structural heart interventions-and a critical workforce crisis where women represent less than 5% of our specialty despite being 50% of medical graduates, how can we fundamentally reimagine interventional cardiology to create an inclusive, sustainable future that not only attracts and retains the diverse talent our patients deserve, but also ensures that groundbreaking innovations like TAVR and tricuspid interventions reach all populations equitably?

What are you most passionate about?
Beyond the catheterization lab, my heart finds its rhythm in celebrating the vibrant mosaic of cultures that have shaped my life, especially here in Texas. The stories my grandmother shared; tales of individuality woven with wisdom and warmth, instilled in me the understanding that true healing is a holistic journey. It's about nurturing the body, mind, and spirit, honoring each person's unique narrative.
Travel is another thread that binds my family together. My husband and I have made it our tradition to explore new places each year not only as visitors, but as participants eager to immerse ourselves in local customs and embrace the world's endless diversity. These journeys expand our horizons and deepen our appreciation for the universality of kindness and curiosity.
Yet, my greatest joy springs from my children. Watching my daughter pursue medicine, following in my footsteps with purpose and compassion, fills me with pride. My son, with his innate gift for technology, reminds me how quickly the world evolves and sometimes leaves me marveling at the wonders of calculus I once wrestled with. Together, they inspire me to keep learning, connecting, and cherishing the beautiful tapestry of life.

About the quote: "Yogah karmasu kaushalam. – Yoga is skill in action." - Bhagavad Gita 2.50
Skill in action perfectly captures the essence of interventional cardiology - performing precise, life-saving procedures under pressure. Yoga in this context means the union of mind, body, and spirit in focused action. It emphasizes excellence through mindful practice - essential for complex procedures
