2025's October spotlight is Dr. Islam Abudayyeh! What they would like to know about the community is: How well have we managed to separate confidence from hubris and therapy for the patient or support for colleagues from advantage for the physician? Reply here.

Tell us about yourself.

My background is in Engineering and Physics, I completed my structural fellowship at UCLA and prior to that at Rush University.
Now I work at the Veterans Administration, and at regional and community facilities where I manage programs building. I operate with multiple fellowship programs and research & development with several groups on medical devices.

What are you most passionate about?

Flying whenever the weather is not too hot and air is not turbulent.
Research and device design whenever time is available.
Nieces whenever I get to see them.
And a cat whenever it can be bothered...

What would you like your colleagues to know about you?

Always have a reason to do anything, every decision should have the aim of benefitting the patient above all else. As a methodical and linear thinker I try not to jump to conclusions but work towards the most rational good.
