2024's October spotlight is Dr. Dennis Kim! Their question for the community is: How are we going to continue to foster the mindset of innovation with future generations of interventionalists given the continuing evolution of medical training and will this affect Kurzweil's law of exponentially accelerating returns in any way? Reply here

Tell us about yourself.

I am the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Labs at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and am a Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. I completed my fellowship in pediatric cardiology as well as congenital interventional cardiology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I now live "ITP" (Inside The Perimeter) in Atlanta, Georgia due to our world famous traffic congestion.

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate and curious about learning new subjects of all kinds. I hope to someday be on a winning team at a bar trivia night. My wife and I have five daughters (proving a certain theory about radiation exposure) and one strange looking dog. I love to cook. I hope to become a better father and husband every day. For some reason, funny and cute animal videos always make me smile.

What would you like your colleagues to know about you?

I enjoy approaching life with a sense of humor. The work we do is mentally and physically difficult and at times can be tragic. Building a team around you that is resilient requires being light hearted and celebrating our successes together.
